Introduction

The following is a listing of AfterStep Applet and WindowMaker DockApp applications. The intent of this document is to provide a reference for users having difficulty launching applications under AfterStep Wharf. For each entry, the following is listed:

- A general description of the application.

- The application's Home Page.

- The usage under AfterStep Wharf.

- Notes to help build, run or install the application.

Please note that "*MonitorWharf" is used throughout this document; it could be "*Wharf" or any other "*" Wharf entry.

If you are having problems building an application, check this directory of patches.


Common configuration syntax

Most of these modules and applications share common configuration syntax.


geometry - Controls X, Y placement and optionally X,Y Size of application

  geometry +640+512         (Center of a screen running at 1280x1024)
  geometry 100x200+640+512  (100pixels wide by 200 pixels wide at center of a screen running at 1280x1024)

stalonetray

stalonetray - STand Alone TRAY (notification area) implementation

Notes:

The above Usage example is actually one REALLY long line (the "\" characters are just continuation characters so the line can be split for easier reading). Not Actually an Applet or DockApp, but works very well with Wharf.

Example line works well with a 32x32 horizontal Wharf.

Temperature.app

Uses a four letter code from http://weather.noaa.gov and wget to fetch local weather.

Doesn't work with AfterStep < 2.1.0 without this patch.

A patch from Frog gives pressure, wind and windchill.

trayer

trayer - A lightweight GTK2-based systray for UNIX desktop.

Notes:

Notes:

Uses a four letter code from http://weather.noaa.gov and wget to fetch local weather info.
In above example, KNKX is the weather station in use.
--compat makes the display a little cleaner

left click shows weather data in xmessage window
Middle click switches from metric/C to imperial/F
Right click causes the application to pull a fresh report.

wmweather+
